I realize this isn't part of what you would expect to find here on fidelisblog.com network, but it happened and there were pictures taken. My brother, Mark, is a collegiate preparatory (high-school) teacher. Also, He is taking a grad-school class for creative writing. Something which he excels at and which, if you've followed this blog at all, you've seen that i could benefit from. See? See how I used a preposition at the end of that sentence and it wasn't even creatively purposed?!
Part of one of the projects was to create a portfolio of poems for this class and to boldly read them in front of no less than ten people and to get a picture of it. My brother upped the ante and read in front of twenty plus sarcastic unimpressed jaded high-schoolers and got me to take the pics. Props to him. He owned that audience though. Had them nodding pensively and clapping at the end. He graciously agreed to let me publish his poem on the blog along with the snap shot i took. Enjoy.

Despite the noise of this house today,
I fear most the silence of tomorrow.
When you, son who does not shut his mouth
Or edit his thoughts - you Sport,
Who holds forth on the slimiest lizards, the best super powers, the most vicious
Carnivores and sings the high praise of ice-cream --
When you are not so little.
I fear then you will suddenly shovel into self consciousness and discover
That most wicked word
That phantom treasure tethered only to this mad world,
That devilish deception called cool.
This moment then will splinter my timbers
For cool will shut your mouth and make you pause.
On that day you must be prepared my boy,
For I will lay hold of every word you let escape your lips
And scale them like Everest until I again reach your soul.
You will stand with mouth agape,
Staggered by your strange father
As you would today marvel at a snake shedding its skin.

Photos of our Latest Projects
~A post by Tim
Did you know that motherly instincts and the nesting compulsion have a yin to their yang. The fatherly instinct doesn't get as much media coverage, but I'm here to testify that it exists. When I found out that I had spawned a man-child some switch in me flipped into overdrive. Before, I was a pretty laid back dude. Had the world pretty nicely compartmentalized and even had some time left over for a round of halo, sci-fi book club, or some such nerdliness. Now, i am all bad jokes, weekend projects, and family time.
One of the oddities of being a wedding photographer/business owner is how time is shifted around in odd ways. For instance, our weekend down time days now fall in the middle of the week. It is just easier to get away from the studio in the middle of the week rather than on the weekends when clients have their free time. Also, since it is generally speaking 20 somethings that tend to need our services and since we live in a college town, we get spring break, sort of. There are always exceptions to every rule.
This week in the super swell land of Bryan-College Station, the weather was beautiful, the traffic was low, and most of the restaurants boasted a zero wait-time. I took this week to indulge my new found dad powers and started a wood project. I've done other wood projects and will probably be taking some photos of those as well, but for now, here is a photo of our new head board/ book case. this puppy is king-sized (read: super heavy) and matches the bed I built for us last year. I am super proud of how this one turned out because from start to finish it was all in my head (vs. the wood plans i sometimes use). Anyways, a picture:
